A Family Legacy of Healthcare

The Taus family has served the San Pedro community's health needs for over four decades. What began as a family medical practice has grown into a comprehensive behavioral health organization — rooted in the same neighborhood, guided by the same values.

Steve Taus II, LMFT, grew up watching his father care for patients and neighbors in San Pedro. In 2008, Steve expanded the family medical practice into psychotherapy services, bringing a new dimension of care to the community he grew up in. Alongside his wife Daniela Zuanich, Steve recognized that emotional and psychological health were inseparable from physical well-being — a principle that would come to define Coastwise.

Mind, Body, and Recovery

Recognizing that emotional, physical, and psychological health are inseparable, the family redesigned their office space to support comprehensive wellness — creating an environment where substance abuse treatment, psychotherapy, and holistic care could all take place under one roof. This integrated approach became the foundation of Coastwise.

Founded in 2013, Coastwise exists to bring accessible, high-quality behavioral healthcare to the South Bay. Today, the organization operates both Coastwise Recovery Center and Coastwise Counseling Center from its San Pedro facility, offering a full continuum of care from intensive substance abuse treatment to ongoing therapy and support.
