Coastwise Recovery Center

Addiction Treatment FAQs

Coastwise Recovery Center is an outpatient addiction treatment program located in San Pedro, CA. We provide structured, evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders, including alcohol and drug addiction. Our program is Joint Commission Gold Seal Accredited and licensed by the California Department of Healthcare Services.

We offer two primary levels of outpatient care:

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): Our most intensive level, meeting five days per week for approximately five to six hours per day. Designed for clients who need a high level of clinical support while still living at home.
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): A step-down level of care, meeting three to four days per week for about three hours per session. Allows clients to gradually re-engage with daily responsibilities like work or school.

Many clients begin in PHP and transition to IOP as they progress in their recovery.

Our comprehensive treatment program includes:

  • Individual counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Psychoeducation
  • Case management
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
  • Relapse prevention planning
  • Holistic therapies
  • Aftercare and continuing care services

Our substance abuse treatment program is open to adults aged 18 and older who are struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. We conduct a comprehensive clinical assessment at intake to determine the appropriate level of care for each individual.

Yes. Coastwise Recovery Center is a dual-diagnosis program, meaning we treat both substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions — such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bipolar disorder — at the same time. Research shows that treating these conditions together leads to significantly better outcomes than treating them separately. Our clinical team includes licensed therapists and psychiatric providers who collaborate to create an integrated treatment plan.

Clients in our substance abuse treatment program meet with a licensed therapist at least twice per week for individual counseling sessions, in addition to group therapy and other clinical services. Our therapists are licensed professionals with specialized training in addiction and co-occurring disorders.

The length of treatment depends on your individual needs and the level of care you're receiving. PHP programs typically last 4 to 6 weeks, while IOP may last 8 to 12 weeks. Your treatment team will work with you to develop a timeline that makes sense for your situation, and adjustments can be made as you progress. We never rush treatment, and we never keep you longer than clinically necessary.

Our goal is to ensure you have the tools and support network you need for lasting recovery.
