Coastwise Recovery Center
Flexible, structured substance abuse treatment serving Long Beach, San Pedro, Torrance, and the greater South Bay — care that fits around your life, not the other way around.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for those who have achieved initial sobriety and are transitioning toward independent living. As part of our outpatient drug rehab continuum, IOP provides the clinical support you need while giving you the flexibility to rebuild your routines, develop new interests, return to work, and reconnect with family.
This is where recovery starts to look like real life. You attend 3 to 5 days per week, with sessions lasting 3 hours each — enough structure to keep you accountable, with enough flexibility to keep your life moving forward. Clients commute to Coastwise's San Pedro facility from Long Beach, Torrance, Wilmington, Harbor City, Rancho Palos Verdes, Lomita, and Carson.
A full continuum of clinical care addressing substance use, mental health, and the underlying causes of addiction in a flexible outpatient format.
Thorough clinical assessments using ASAM criteria guide individualized treatment plans that evolve as you progress through recovery.
Initial medical evaluation and ongoing follow-up with our psychiatric team ensures your physical and mental health needs are continuously addressed.
Two weekly individual therapy sessions with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) who specialize in addiction and co-occurring disorders.
Small group settings of up to 6 clients create meaningful connections, shared accountability, and a supportive recovery community.
Regular family sessions help rebuild communication, trust, and healthy dynamics — because recovery is strongest when families heal together.
Integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma — treated alongside substance use, not separately.
Building the emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal skills you need to navigate life without substances.
A dedicated case manager coordinates all aspects of your care — housing, legal, vocational, and medical needs — so you can focus on recovery.

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured outpatient level of care that provides clinical support while you live at home and maintain work, school, or family responsibilities. At Coastwise Health, IOP includes 3 hours of daily programming, 3 to 5 days per week, combining individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and psychiatric care.
Length of stay is individualized based on clinical progress, but most clients complete IOP in 8 to 12 weeks. Sessions run 3 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week. After IOP, most clients step down to our Aftercare program for ongoing support.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) is more intensive — typically 5–6 hours of programming, 5 days per week, and is often used as a step-down from detox or residential treatment. IOP is 3 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week, and is often the step-down from PHP. Many Coastwise clients progress through PHP → IOP → Aftercare.
